Philosophy Through wisdom is a house built. And by understanding it is established. And by knowledge are the chambers filled with all precious and pleasant riches. - Proverbs 224:3-4 It has been said that if prayer is the opportunity for us to speak to God, then it is through Jewish study that God speaks to us. At Temple Beth Shalom, Jewish learning is an exciting and accessible experience for those of every age and background. Whether you are young or mature; whether you are a more experienced learner or have limited to little Jewish background….or if you just happen to have forgotten much of what you learned from religious school days of long ago….there is a very special place awaiting you amongst our community of learners. In our community, we seek to make the wisdom and meanings of Judaism come alive through a variety of classes and learning opportunities. Our program spans the full spectrum of subjects: from Hebrew language, Jewish texts, and Torah study to Jewish thought, Holiday explorations, and Israel – Temple Beth Shalom offers programs and classes to meet every need. In addition to offering our own classes and discussion, Temple Beth Shalom also serves as a resource for our members to the many other learning opportunities in our area. We are proud and fortunate to be part of a wider Boston-area Jewish community. Hebrew College, Brandeis University, Mayyim Hayyim: Mikveh and Education Center, the Union for Reform Judaism, the Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts, and the Bureau of Jewish Education - not to mention the many other congregations in our area -also provide outstanding programs for Jewish discovery and growth. We are happy to share information about all of these programs with our congregation. All of Temple Beth Shalom’s adult learning opportunities are proudly sponsored by our Jewish Life Education Committee. Unless otherwise noted in our course description, all programs are held at Temple Beth Shalom. Since many of our TBS’s educational offerings require registration, we ask that you not the contact information for each. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Director of Education, Sandy Whitecross (tbsrs@tbsneedham.org) or 781-444-0388, at any time. |
